Memoir That Shocked the World Is Coming to TV – Jennifer Aniston in the Lead Role
Jennifer Aniston will star in a new series inspired by Jennette McCurdy’s memoir "I'm Glad My Mom Died", which will air on Apple TV+, Variety reports.
Apple has approved the production of a ten-episode series that delivers a touching yet humorous story about a former child actress’s struggle with her demanding and controlling mother. According to the official synopsis, the show will focus on the relationship between an eighteen-year-old actress from a popular kids’ show and her narcissistic mother (portrayed by Aniston).
Jennette McCurdy rose to fame with her role in the Nickelodeon series *iCarly* and has appeared in numerous other films and shows. Her book *I'm Glad My Mom Died*, published in 2022 by Simon & Schuster, became an instant bestseller and remained at the top of the *New York Times* Best Seller list for over a year.
In addition to starring, Jennifer Aniston will serve as executive producer through her production company Echo Films. McCurdy will co-write, executive produce, and co-showrun the series alongside Ari Katcher (known for *Ramy* and *The Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show*), according to B92.
Other executive producers include Sharon Horgan and Stacey Greenberg from Merman, as well as Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley, and Josie McNamara from LuckyChap Productions, along with Jerrod Carmichael and Erika Kay. The series is being produced by Apple Studios.
Aniston and Apple TV+ already collaborate on *The Morning Show*, whose fourth season will premiere in September. For her performance in that series, Aniston has been nominated twice for both an Emmy and a Golden Globe.
