Fans of the series Wednesday thrilled by the trailer for the second season

After a teaser released in April, Netflix has finally unveiled the trailer for the second season of Wednesday, one of its most-watched series.

In the new season, Jenna Ortega returns once again as Wednesday Addams, and this time she has only one goal – to save her friend and roommate Enid Sinclair, played by Emma Myers, writes Index.

In the second season, Wednesday returns to Nevermore Academy, where she is met by the new principal, Mrs. Dort (Steve Buscemi). There, she also encounters a group of teenage girls obsessed with her, among whom Agnes (Evie Templeton) stands out. Yet what changes Wednesday is a terrifying vision.

The trailer shows Wednesday with her face covered in black tears, while her mother Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) anxiously asks: “I know what those tears mean. What did you see?” Wednesday quietly replies: “Enid dies, and it’s all my fault.” Wednesday will do whatever she can to stop it – even if it means risking her own life.

Who is behind the second season?

The series was once again developed by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who also serve as showrunners and executive producers. Director Tim Burton also returns as an executive producer, alongside Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Tommy Harper, Karen Richards, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman, Gail Berman, and Meredith Averill. The directing is signed by Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson, reports Variety.

In addition to Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, the second season will also see the return of Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Victor Dorobantu, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, Luanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Jamie McShane, and Fred Armisen.

Among the new regular cast members in the second season are Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor.

Fans' reactions to the trailer

Wednesday is one of Netflix's most successful series so far – the first season gathered as much as 252 million and 100 thousand viewing hours. Many were thrilled by Netflix's decision to release the trailer on a Wednesday, as well as the fact that both parts of the second season will premiere on Wednesdays. The first part arrives on August 6, and the second on September 3.

“I can't imagine anyone else playing Wednesday Addams except the talented Jenna Ortega!”, “Honestly, this is how a trailer should look. Completely confusing, but it presents the cast, builds tension, and reveals nothing concrete. I love it.”

“After watching this trailer, there’s no doubt – the second season was worth waiting for every second”, “I have to praise this trailer because it doesn't reveal key plot points but only shows fragments that intrigue us. That’s exactly how a real trailer should be”, are some of the comments from excited fans of the series.
